Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans washed and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or neutral oil
  • to taste sea salt sea salt for seasoning
  • 1 lemon lemon juice freshly squeezed, optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Tongs
  • Measuring spoons
  • Lemon or vinegar
  • Silicone spatula or spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Wash and trim the green beans, then pat them dry thoroughly with a towel. This helps them crisp up better during roasting.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the green beans with a tablespoon of olive oil, making sure each bean gets a light, even coat. You should see a gentle sheen on the surface.
  4. Spread the beans evenly in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding to allow air circulation for even roasting.
  5. Roast the beans for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even cooking and charring. You’ll hear a gentle sizzling and see some darkened spots forming on the beans.
  6. Once the beans are bright green with some smoky, charred patches, remove the basket from the air fryer and transfer the beans to a serving dish.
  7. Sprinkle generously with sea salt and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the hot beans for a bright, tangy finish. Toss gently with tongs to evenly distribute the seasonings.
  8. Serve immediately while they’re still crispy and warm, or let cool slightly for a delightful snack or side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding garlic powder or crushed red pepper before roasting. To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispness.
